At two thirty in the afternoon he would turn on the local television news. Because he did not speak English, he had no idea what the newscaster was actually saying. He simply found the pleasant sounding words coming from the well groomed man on TV extremely calming. For a half hour he would simply sit with eyes closed and listen, never seeing the video of crime scenes and horrific accidents, only hearing the soft sound of words that soothed him in a world of uncertainty.
