I have a wonderful friend named Terry who is deaf. Her speech is so perfect you would never know. Terry also reads lips and is quite good at it. Once at a party, we were on a patio having a talk and laughing a great deal. As the sun went down, she looked at me and said “Ed, it’s so dark, I can’t hear a word you’re saying.”
