DOROTHY’S MEDALLION LOUNGE

It is New Orleans, 3am and my friend Bill and I are at Dorothy’s Medallion Lounge waiting to hear the great singer Johnny Adams and guitarist Walter Wolfman Washington. They are still waiting for the drummer to show up but finally decide to play without him. Bill and I are in heaven listening to their perfect music. At one point, I go to the men’s room which is located directly behind the band. When I come out, I am in the middle of the stage, the restroom light at my back and I am between two very heavy go go dancers. The amazing band is in front of us playing their hearts out. I stop and for a brief moment take in this strange beautiful juxtaposition that could only happen on a late night in New Orleans.
