TWO TEXAS LADIES

They had never been farther than Waco, when in the Summer of 1969 they decided to take the Greyhound bus all the way to Florida. This was a special trip. As they stood in the crowd, watching the liftoff of Apollo 11 on its way to the moon, something came over them. They both began to cry as the rocket disappeared into the clouds. They never got back on the bus to home. They took the next bus to New York City and from there on to Rome and then to who knows where. This was the last photo taken in Waco as they waited for the fateful bus to begin their adventure. Apollo 11 may have been one small step for man, but it was one giant leap for Ethel and Maxine.
