COFFEE AND OBLIVION

At the center of a distant galaxy, millions of stars and planets were pulled through the event horizon of a black hole. One civilization was transported smack dab into my morning cup of coffee. Desperate to survive, they sent me mathematically coded messages broadcasting, “WE ARE HERE. WE ARE HERE.” Had I been on my second cup, they might have stood a chance. Nothing comes between me and that first cup and did they really expect me to do math at 7AM? I will say this, as alien civilizations go, they were full bodied with a slightly nutty aroma.

  1. I love all of your photo-stories, but this one in particular. The image of the galaxy in the coffee cup, on the plaid covered table, the angle, the shadow, all work wonderfully to illustrate the little world of your story.
